Kern River Fly Fishing Report July 23, 2017

Upper Kern 20 mile Section ( Lake Isabella river mouth north to the Johnsondale Bridge)

Here we go finally. The river isn’t down to super safe conditions to fish, so be very cautious when fly fishing the 20 mile section. This section is dropping at a rapid rate and is down now to 1800 cfs. Big and catch-able size rainbows have moved into this section during the high flows and are now being caught all the way up to the Fairview dam.  When fly fishing the river , fish the eddies that have been created along the banks and you will find fish. No need to wade at this time. River water temperature in Kernville 59 degrees – Perfect!. Air temps 100+ Hot!
